About Frederik Pohl

Frederik Pohl has been about everything that it is possible to be in the field of science fiction, from consecrated fan and struggling poet to critic, literary agent, teacher, book and magazine editor and, above all, writer.

�He is a past president of both World SF and the Science Fiction Writers of America and is currently Midwest Area Representative to the Authors Guild, having served for nine years as a member of the Guild Council before moving to the midwest. He currently makes his home in Palatine, Illinois, with his wife, Dr. Elizabeth Anne Hull, who is a past president of the Science Fiction Research Association and a noted scholar in the field.

Who Goes There? (1938) John W Campbell "He was the greatest editor science fiction ever had. Take away John Campbell and the whole scene changes; others have contributed to the growth of modern science fiction, John caused it."	The Black Flame (1939) Stanley G Weinbaum "Stanley G. Weinbaum's name deserves to rank with those of Wells and Heinlein - and no more than a handful of others - as among the great shapers of modern science fiction. Sadly, most of the marvelous works he produced in his all too brief career were in the form of short stories and novelettes, and so are overlooked by many of today's readers. Which is all the more reason to rejoice that Tachyon Publications has brought his novel, The Black Flame, back into print for us to read - and moreover, for the first time, it is published just as Weinbaum wrote it.
