About Gina Wilkins
Gina Ferris was born on December 20 in central Arkansas, where she grew up. She have carried a horse shoe charm in her purse, ever since her boyfriend (now her husband) won it for her at a parking-lot carnival game. She married on Feb. 4th, 1977.

When she was writing her first book, her husband took the money he had been saving for a table saw, and bought her a new typewriter (pre-computer). She says: "He'd been saving for more than a year. Nothing could have shown more support for my dreams". Gina sold her first book to Silhouette in 1987, and has been writing full time since.

Gina has written more than fifty books for Silhouette. She has signed her novels as Gina Wilkins, Gina Ferris and Gina Ferris Wilkins. Her novels are sold in more than one hundred countries and are translated into twenty languages. Gina has appeared on bestseller lists and has won several awards from the reviewers of Romantic Times magazine. She has been nominated for both a Romantic Times Reviewer's Choice Award for Best Harlequin Temptation in 1998 for Tempting Tara and a Romantic Times Career Achievement Award and was awarded a Romantic Times Reviewer's Choice Award in 2003 for Best Silhouette Special Edition, Make-Believe Mistletoe. The Georgia Romance Writers have awarded her the Maggie Award for Excellence four times, and Wilkins has seen her books appear on the Waldenbooks, B. Dalton, and USAToday Bestseller lists.

In 1999, Wilkins was forced to sue BET Publishing for plagiarism. A librarian who was a fan of Wilkins noticed that a new book she was reading, When Love Calls by Gail McFarland, appeared to very closely match a Harlequin Temptation, Hotline published in 1991 by Wilkins. After purchasing and examining the other book, Wilkins claims that over 100 pages were taken in whole or part from her work. In an out-of-court settlement reached in 2000, BET agreed to withdraw all copies of their book from booksellers and to cease any future publication of the book. Neither the publisher nor the infringing author offered an apology or admission of guilt.

Gina is a member of Romance Writers of America: the Published Authors Network (PAN) of RWA; and Novelists, Inc., a national organization for multi-published writers of book-length popular fiction. She is a frequent speaker at writers' conferences and civic meetings, but she particularly enjoys speaking in schools, where her emphasis is on literacy, goal-setting and motivation.

Gina credits her successful career in romance to her long, happy marriage and her three "extraordinary" children.
