"Am Ihurting you?Dang, Mia, why you trippingwith me like this?You acting like I gota disease or something.I can't even touch you now?"

"Okay," shesaid and did not pull her hand away.

"I waswondering if we can, me and you, ifwe can go out this weekend.My unclesays he'll let me use his car.I knowyou don't wanna go in my mom's ride."Helooked over at the hooptie in Mia's driveway and chuckled."We can go in that if you want to, but wemight get stuck on the side of the road somewhere."

Mia wasn'tsmiling."Tyrone, I can't go out withyou."

"Why not?"

"I have aboyfriend."

He flippedher hand over."I don't see no ring onyo finger.Can't you go out with thatlame next week?"

Mia smiledand drew her hand back."You got somenerve."

"What youmean?"

"You assumemy boyfriends a lame, why?'Cause he doesn't sell dope?Never been to jail?That make him lame?"

Tyronegrinned."I don't know nothing about allthat.I don't know nothing abouthim.I say he lame cause he got a goodwoman like you and don't know what to do with her."
