Though his work is still well known, Verne principally is remembered for only a handful of books. He was quite prolific, however, often producing two novels per year for several decades. Alas, most of it is not available in English. This 1882 work is part adventure story, part romance, as heroine Helena Campbell rejects all suitors until she personally sees the mysterious green ray, which supposedly will guide her to true love.
