At age nine, she wrote Madeleine L'Engle and received a wonderful response that catalyzed her desire to be a writer. She continued to pursue her writing dreams throughout college while earning three Masters degrees in English, Creative Writing, and Environmental Studies.

She currently lives and writes in Manns Harbor, North Carolina, not far from the site of the Lost Colony on Roanoke Island. When not writing or reading, she's out chasing wolves and bears with her husband and dog.
