Jared Bolt finds himself on board the Santa Fe stage with a U.S. Marshal, a wealthy rancher named Deane and his beautiful daughter Laurel. The trip seems uneventful until armed men stop the stage. Deane, worried because he is carrying a lot of money hides it in his daughter's valise and draws his derringer. The bandits kill him and escape with the baggage.

The Marshal, having recognized Bolt who is wanted for bank robbery and murder, tries to take him in. Bolt manages to escape with the very desirable Laurel. He is determined to get back her valise since he slipped all his money in it too. Together they follow the outlaws' trail and slowly but surely Bolt teaches his lovely companion the facts of life - and love!
