Incessant heat and drought have taken their toll on the Wild Horse Valley range. The problem is no less acute on the Double R, the largest ranch in the district, owned by Walt Rand. Then Nick Kenyon diverts what's left of the Wild Horse Creek to his small ranch, leaving the Double R none - blaming Walt Rand and his ranch for all the problems on the range, and turning the smaller ranchers into a threatening mob against him.
