But tragedy strikes when a freak snowstorm traps the bay mare and her foal freezes to death. An outraged Powell sets about exposing the Scotts for their "cruelty". But Matt Scott isn't convinced that Hummingbird's death was quite so clear-cut. Meanwhile, poor Skylark pines for her dead foal...
