Three years ago Lew Fonesca quit his job as a researcher for the State's Attorney's office in Cook County, Illinois. Jumping into his rattling Toyota and heading for Key West, Lew was sidetracked by fate when the car broke down in a Dairy Queen parking lot in Sarasota, Florida. After finding some friendly faces, Lew decided to stick around, making ends meet by doing some investigative work for local attorneys.. "But now one of the attorneys has found someone who needs Lew's help: Carl Sebastian, a well-known local entrepreneur, is desperately seeking his younger wife, Melanie. He asks Lew to simply locate Melanie, working with some of her friends and acquaintances, so that he can have a shot at convincing her to come home.. He's being followed by a mysterious burly man, and Melanie's friends' theories only lead him in circles.
