Kessler continues his ''S.S. Wotan'' series (Operation Long Jump, LJ 10/15/93, among others) with the story of Obersturmbannfhrer von Dodenberg, a German tank commander who tries to convince his superiors that the Allies will land in Normandy and not to the north, as Hitler's command believes. Von Dodenberg goes against direct orders-not a wise thing to do in Nazi Europe-and tries single-handedly to stop the D-Day invasion. Kessler (a pseudonym used by Charles Whiting) has a coarse style, and his characters, including real historical figures, have little depth. This book will appeal to adolescent male readers interested in military adventure stories.-C. Christopher Pavek, Putnam, Hayes & Bartlett, Inc. Information Ctr., Washington, D.C.
