In July of 1897, the S.S. Portland sailed from Skagway, Alaska to Seattle, Washington, carrying two tons of Yukon gold and setting off the famed Klondike Gold Rush. Now, more than 100 years later, another ship is re-creating the famed voyage. The Spirit of '98 is making its way down Alaska's historic Inside Passage with Alex Jensen, a policeman and Gold Rush Buff, who is in charge of guarding the ton of gold the ship is carrying below. That is until an unexplained rash of shipboard robberies and a strange disappearance and probable death of a crewmember bring Alex back into reality. Could the Spirit of '98 be hurtling toward a fateful encounter that could write a grim new chapter in Alaska's history?
