Stoney Compton is a native of Grand Island, Nebraska who joined the U.S. Navy at age 17. After his enlistment he went to Alaska for the summer and left the Great Land 31 years later. He has two children who are outstanding persons. He is married to Colette, his ballet instructor/choreographer wife. They live in Oregon's Willamette Valley with two dogs a number of cats.
