It's all there ever will be of Barrie's autobiography, and it consists of somewhat random sketches, essays, articles contributed over a period of years to periodicals, and followed in each instance by a running commentary on the background of the piece, on current happenings, and so on. One pieces the bits together and gets an impression -- somewhat sketchy and hazy -- of a personality, with a few actual facts about the stress and strain of his early attempts at authorship, and the gradual expanding of his powers and market and interests and associates. For characteristic flavor read chapter V (Love Me Never or Forever), chapter XV (The Biographer at Bay), chapter XXII (The Club Ghost)
