Recruited by MI6, Tom defects to Moscow and settles as a "sleeper". When agent Nosarenko forces him to participate in a murder, he opts out, resulting in his sale back to Britain and imprisonment as a traitor. But Nosarenko wants to obliterate all evidence of his crime, and Tom is on the run again.
