The second in a trilogy, following on from "Leaving a Prague Window". Tadeusz, an artist and intellectual, confesses to murder. He tells his cellmate that he did it for the love of his model, Zuzanna, who had seduced him as he painted his masterpiece, "The Horizontal Woman".
