Ronbas Dinbig, merchant adventurer and spy, is sent by his magical overlord, the Chariness, to investigate the wild and unknown land of Anxau, which is ruled by three contending lords. One of them is known to have slain a highly-regarded inhabitant of Dinbig's homeland - one Ronbas Dinbig.
