Sent to London by German intelligence in 1941 to set up a spy network, he immediately contacted the British and began working for them. For three years Garbo fed misinformation to the Germans, who never realized the deception. At the end of 1943 he began sending misleading information concerning the coming invasion of France; the Germans believed that the D-Day invasion of Normandy was a feint. After the war Pujol settled in Venezuela and lived in obscurity until his identity was revealed in 1984. Recommended for specialists in espionage.
