Katherine "Kit" Anderson could fly a crippled airplane through a thunderstorm without a compass and never get lost. As flight Lieutenant for the British Women's Air Transport Auxiliary at a small airfield in southern England she may get her chance to do just that. Kit is American and has sighed on to help. She is determined to make a difference in the Battle for Britain as a ferry pilot, delivering factory fresh airplanes to combat bases.
But it's the gorgeous young British literature teacher, Emily Mills, who has her flying in circles. Emily is as crusty a Brit as Kit has ever met. She is also granddaughter to Lady Marble, Kit's landlady. When Emily must find a job at the airfield Kit offers to help but as the saying goes, no good deed goes unpunished. Kit is running away from a broken heart but there is no way she can avoid a collision with Emily. The sparks are going to fly and their hearts are directly in the line of fire.
