Autumn 1944. On Jersey, a young German officer is in charge of liaising with the civilian population. Max has little time for his fanatical colleagues, and has earned the respect of many of the islanders. When he discovers the corpses of several prisoners washed up on the beach, he is unprepared for where they will lead him.
