When visiting San Diego with the Stevensons, Allen discovers an energy signal coming from experimental torpedoes lost in the bay during WWII. Realizing the potential for a grave explosion, Allen neutralizes the torpedoes by absorbing their energy into his body. But the only way to release the energy without exposing his secret is to literally shoot himself off like a firework.
