The Doctor Was a Guest

(1976)
A novel by

After Dr Alan Jameson was badly injured in Switzerland, he found himelf likely to be in a wheelchair for some time and the invitation to stay in sunny Africa with wealthy Martin Ryder seemed perfect until Alan heard the reason.

Martin was very worried about Michelle, his daughter. Twenty-four years old, she had everything a girl needed but had no interest in life. This was ever since her mother died. Alan, Martin said, must come as a guest and no mention made that he was a doctor of Michelle would not speak to him. It did not sound an easy talk, nor was it, Alan learned, but it had some surprising results.
