A novel by

Karen first meets flying doctor Brett Lindsay at London Airport, and he promises her mother that he will see Karen safely united with her fiancé Gerard in Sydney. When Gerard does not appear, Brett brings Karen north to the home of his rich but lonely sister. As Karen becomes involved in the family problems in her new home, she finds herself falling in love with Brett, but, fearing that a display of affection would embarrass him, masks her feelings. Brett misinterprets her withdrawal, thinking she still pines for Gerard. When he manages to reunite the pair, events take a painful turn that Brett had not anticipated. But the solution is worth all the heartache that went before.
