Christy de la Cruz had it all - successful career as an interior decorator in Santa Fe, marriage to a tall handsome man, and a supportive family, especially her cousin Maggie. Now she's down to two out of three. That tall handsome husband turned out to leave her..for another man. Now Christy is angry - a little bitter, if truth be told - humiliated (being gay is not, um, such a positive thing in a Hispanic family, especially to the older generation) and licking her wounds. But 'The Rules' and 'Love in 90 Days' aren't working and Christy is in serious danger of becoming too prickly to get near, much less to date. Until Maggie and the rest of the de la Cruz family take things in hand and present Christy with three great guys, just like the three wise men of the nativity story, making an effort, bearing gifts and displaying their wares, all for her: Melchior, Caspar and Balthazar. Melchior is a sexy outdoorsman with a huge love of wildlife; Caspar a metrosexual pretty boy, Santa Fe-style; and Balthazar a rugged, laconic cowboy type. Each is gorgeous; each woos Christy hard. Which king will win her hand?

The Three Kings is Alisa's most Hispanic-themed novel yet, both because of the three kings story itself and because of how the heroine identifies as a beautiful (curvy, with café con leche skin) Latina and how she thinks of her family, where they came from, and how New Mexico operates. It's also a fun book - the men she chooses among are great, it's witty as can be, and has a great, simple story that delivers.
