On Barbara Caley's first shift in Casualty, Damien Elridge, a film star, and his fiancee Margaret Knowles are brought in from a car accident. Damien has promised Margaret a part in a film, but an argument before the crash has put both that and their prospective marriage into doubt - and when Damien meets Barbara, he immediately expresses an interest in her.
