S/M Futures was first published in 1995 and quickly became one of Circlet's fastest-selling titles. The authors in the book were mostly unknowns, and the end of the millennium seemed a bit distant yet. The idea of combining SM erotic fiction with futuristic science fiction, high technology, space travel, and the like was one that seemed natural, and yet there were no other books out on the subject. S/M Futures opened the door for the publication of many works by the contributors, and for other volumes of high-tech SM erotica, the likes of Masquerade Books and other publishers.
