While Agent Sydney Bristow, wounded in a mission gone awry, is spending her recuperative leave shopping, catching up on her reading, and reconnecting with an old friend from graduate school, Keiko Terajima, her cohorts at APO are troubled by reports that Dark Cloud, a terrorist cell based in China, is plotting something big. But for the first time in ages Sydney can leave the worrying to them and just kick back and relax. Or so she thinks.
It turns out that Keiko's husband is using her to get top-secret information from her father, a prominent Japanese rocket scientist. Worse, Sydney's efforts to help Keiko have prompted Dark Cloud to target APO agents. As Sydney realizes that the men in Keiko's life are connected to the terrorists' plot, she finds that she and her old friend share a new and very deadly enemy, and Keiko's fate depends on Sydney acting fast.
