Annie's Boys

In this, the second part of Sarah Shears's trilogy of late-Victorian life, we continue the story of Annie Parsons, the courageous and innocent matriarch. Annie has borne four sons to Teddy, who remains as wayward and unreliable as ever. Each boy's character and personality develops and matures quite differently under Annie's devoted care. Although her neighbours in rural Kent criticise Annie's dislike of formal discipline, Annie's orphanage childhood has made her determined that her own family will not suffer any harsh treatment at home.
