As World War II continues, the Caldwell sisters adapt to very different lives... While lmogen continues to excel in her role as a ATS driver, her fiance, James, is in charge of a very different vehicle - an army tank. Meanwhile, the Bristol blitz finally persuades Elsie to take baby Faith to Yorkshire for the duration, though her husband's physical and emotional wounds mean that she can't leave the war very far behind. Daisy, trying to choose between her dreams of the stage and her altogether more prosaic nursing career, is distracted from her own problems by gorgeous Canadian Glenn, stationed in England in order to fly bombing raids over Nazi Germany. And Aunt Rose takes back former evacuee Vanessa Brown, who's decided that perhaps she does want to be the youngest Caldwell girl after all.
