In 1970 sixteen-year-old Bobby Stark runs away with Michelle, who is escaping from the Hare Krishna cult she ran to to get away from an abusive father, but on their way to San Francisco they are picked up by two hippies, Meat and Varnish, who threaten tomake their lives even more difficult.
