The great Alaska Gold Rush of 1896 brought together people from all walks of life, who would never have met save for a shared entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to make the long, arduous trek to Dawson City, at the confluence of the Yukon and Klondike rivers. Men, women and children, American-born and immigrant, some of the so-called "stampeders" were killers, some were thieves, some were victims.
