Set in Pearl, Washington, One Dark Body is the story of twelve-year-old Raisin abandoned at birth by her mother and raised by foster parents along with other unwanted children. It is the story of Nola, who has returned to Pearl to reclaim her daughter and put to rest ghosts from the past who continue to haunt their lives. It is also the story of fourteen-year-old fatherless Sin-Sin and his relationship with Blue, the town healer who is determined to initiate Sin-Sin into manhood.
The characters suffer pain, but also possess strength, dignity and hope as they struggle toward redemption.
