Crescent Simpson grew up in the suburbs with two loving parents, but that doesn’t stop her from falling for a man with a less than desirable background. It isn’t until Crescent’s son is born and she’s raising him alone in the projects that she finally understands where her parents were coming from when they wouldn’t condone her relationship. His frequent mood swings and learning what he does for a living may be the very things to push Crescent away, but if that happens, all the progress that Hamisi made will be undone.
