THE GREAT ORME TERROR was written by Garnett Radcliffe, who contributed regularly to Weird Tales magazine. He blended a certain amount of humor with the horror in this 1935 book by creating his bumbling aristocratic detective, Lord Basil Curlew. The book was forgotten for many decades but in his introduction, John Pelan tells how he came to rescue it from oblivion.
