The Treasure

The village of Oakvale, where Matilda lives, and its twin village of Elmswood, have suffered great adversity and
poverty. For two hundred years, there has been war, as the villagers fight each other for the wondrous treasure that is
hidden somewhere in King Stephen’s castle. After two centuries of bombardment, the castle is in ruins, except for
one tower that remains impenetrable.

Alaric, an old, wizened man, is gatekeeper of King Stephen’s castle and its remaining tower. Matilda visits him every
afternoon. He is her only friend.

When the Oaf, Matilda’s step-father and his son make a final assault on the castle to find the treasure,
all their lives are turned upside down.

Broken

After the tragic death of her parents, Rachael Watson ran away, leaving her sister to manage the family
lavender farm and shop. Three years later, crushed by her unrelenting grief, workplace bullying,
guilt and shame for letting her sister down, Rachael decides to return home.

There, Rachael meets Ebony, a black mare who has been mistreated and beaten.
Rachael realises she is not the only one who has been broken.

Rachael promises Ebony she will always look after her, but has she spoken too soon?
