Her life a blur of one-night stands and ensuing hangovers, Clare Somerville decides to head for the Scottish Highlands. Larach, the isolated cottage by the sea-loch seems wholly unsuitable for her, but Clare soon comes to love it, as well as the landscape and people she encounters.
