The Edge of Autumn

(2018)
A novel by

Assaulted by a cult leader who calls himself "The Shepherd," betrayed and scorned by her zealot mother, eighteen-year-old Angel escapes her mother's home on a rainy September night. But she's not alone. Supernatural forces guide her to Littlebrook, a poor mountain village where nothing ever changes and nothing is as innocent as it seems.

Alone and afraid, Angel finds an ally in Don Hanson, a gentle doctor with a haunted past. Angel's resemblance to Mary, the dead wife of Don's youth, is the magnet that draws him to her, stirring his shattered heart to love again.

But for this unlikely pair, love comes at a high price, as Angel's mysterious appearance creates a tempest in Littlebrook, awakening ghosts from the past and striking vengeance in the dark heart of an enemy Angel did not know she had.

A MUST READ!
I absolutely loved this story from beginning to end.
Angel is a young woman that has never known kindness, but fate of the spirits bring her to Littlebrook where she learns to heal.
Dr. Don Hanson is taken aback by how much Angel resembles his late wife, Mary. Old memories resurface making him face what he thought he had buried so long ago.
Ms. Pike brings these characters alive baring their desires and passion whether they are for good or evil. You're drawn into the lives of the people of Littlebrook, caring what happens to them and hoping that in the end love will triumph.
Gifted Stoyteller! This is an excellent read! You will not be disappointed!

Chilling and romantic, all in the same breath.
There are ghosts lingering throughout this book, not only the kind that makes you look over your shoulder to see what's behind you, but also the kind that is drudged up by the past.
M. Jean Pike is an amazing writer...truly inspiring and ultimately gifted in the art of giving her readers goose flesh. She's very quickly become one of my favorite authors.

A most enthralling story
It is a long time since I had a book that immediately gripped me from the very first page and carried on gripping me to the end. Luckily we had a heatwave and I could just sit and allow myself to enter Angel's world and be moved by her story. It is atmospheric and the supernatural twist to the plot seems very credible rather than spooky. The characters are beautifully portrayed and very real. I could almost taste the good home cooking of Cora and imagine the little town in which Angel appears to find a safe haven. But does she?...you've got to buy this great book and find out for yourselves.
