Old Mrs Dunlopp had a sentimental streak as well as a lot of money, and it was frankly in a match making mood that she made over her large house and a sizeable fortune to be shared between her great-nephew Grant Gard and her young friend Beverley Redmund - on condition that within six months they got married. Up till then the two people concerned had never met, and when eventually they did, they just didn't take to each other at all. Grant made it clear from the start that although woman had a place in his leive, it was a purely subordinate one; and Beverley was not exactly the doormat type. But a lot could happen in six months-and a a lot did!
