Set in 1498, this deals with Leonardo da Vinci's attempts to find a model for the figure of Judas, in his painting "The Last Supper". This he finds in Joachim Behaim, an honest German merchant who has had to commit an act of betrayal in order to recover a debt. Thus he is perfect for Judas.
