Emily Pohl-Weary



Award-winning author and editor Emily Pohl-Weary has published seven books, a series of girl pirate comics, and her own literary magazine. Her most recent book is a collection of poetry, Ghost Sick (2015). Her novel for teens, Not Your Ordinary Wolf Girl, was published by Penguin Razorbill (Canada) and Skyscape (U.S.A.) in 2013. Her previous books include Strange Times at Western High (a middle-grade mystery), Girls Who Bite Back (a superhero anthology), A Girl Like Sugar  (a novel for new adults), Iron-on Constellations (poetry), and Better to Have Loved: The Life of Judith Merril (a memoir co-authored with her grandmother, Merril).Shes an assistant professor in the Creative Writing program at the University of British Columbia. Previously, she taught creative writing at Dalhousie University, University of the Fraser Valley, and University of Torontos School of Continuing Studies. She has also been a writer-in-residence at Queens University, University of the Fraser Valley, the Toronto Public Library system (for Young Voices) and the Pierre Berton House in Dawson City, Yukon.
