Andrea Portes is the bestselling novelist of the critically lauded novel, HICK.  The book was her debut novel and was made into a feature film starring Chloe Grace Moretz, Eddie Redmayne, Blake Lively, Alec Baldwin and Juliette Lewis. Andrea Portes was honored to write the screenplay adaptation. Her new book Bury This,came out in February 2014, and examines the 1979 murder of a young woman and its effect on a small town in Michigan. An impressionistic literary thriller about the murder of a young girl in small-town Michigan in 1979.

The book has been critically lauded, hailed by the New York TImes as exquisite.
Andrea grew up shuffled around between such disparate locales as Nebraska, Brasilia, Texas, Rio De Janiero, Baltimore, North Dakota, California, Wisconsin and North Carolina. Finally, Andrea was granted relief from this nomadic existence when she was accepted to Bryn Mawr College, where she attended on full scholarship and later graduated cum laude, with a major in English Literature. She then earned her Masters in Fine Arts degree from UC-San Diego. 
Currently, Andrea is in the midst of the negotiating the movie option for BURY THIS, as well as writing her fourth book, part of a two-book deal with HarperCollins. Her third book, ANATOMY OF A MISFIT, will be out in September 2014. She lives in Los Angeles and is represented by  Josie Freedman at ICM and Katie Shea at Donald Maass Literary Agency.
