Track of a Killer

(1982)
A novel by

Clay Scarborough, ramrod of the Circle R ranch, has had his share of problems with the young drifter known as Junior, recently taken on by the Circle R's owner. Junior is just downright mean and more than a little crazy. But Clay has other things on his mind, like the rustlers whom no one seems able to track down, and the huge gold boom that's brought hordes of miners into the area. His troubles all come to a head, though, in a murderous attack from an unknown ambusher. Before he knows it, Clay has to face not only the miners and the rustlers, but also the maniacal Junior - all of whom seem intent on getting Clay out of the way... for good.
