Ronan was born in Dublin in 1974. He studied Law in University College Dublin and went on to become a solicitor specialising in the area of criminal law. He now lives in a village in Co. Kildare.

At university, Ronan's creative side was demonstrated through his membership of the Drama Society. He wrote and directed a number of student plays to high acclaim. He went on to complete a Masters Degree in Modern Drama Studies.

While still practising law, Ronan is working on his second novel.
