Many of the pamphlets included in the selection are republished for the first time since their original appearance in the sixteenth or seventeenth century. The book is illustrated with early caricatures and cartoons, showing how satirical artists viewed the scenes and events described by the pamphleteers, and a few characteristic title pages are reproduced.
