In their luxurious country villa, the Wealthy Wada family have gathered to celebrate New Year. Chiyo, the family favorite has invited American friend and tutor, Jane Prescott to join them. Chiyo bursts into the living room claiming to have stabbed her grandfather to death. The old man died by accident, but the family must club together to protect their reputation, and the complex web they weave starts to unravel. Natsuki has contrived a deceptive Japanese conjuring trick which is as refreshing as it is ingenious.
