Florence's hot pies are sold from the aptly named Paradise Pie shop. They are legendary, not only with the tramcar operator but also the hard-up and hungry during the Depression years. Warm-hearted Florence is the mainstay at home too. In her mainly female household, there also lives Manny, a casualty of the First World War who is now working as Florence's assistant. Hers is a shoulder to cry on when love affairs fail, but will Florence ever find the time to consider her own future happiness?
