Set in the autumn of 1863 as the Civil War rages, eleven-year-old Peg learns that Violet has been keeping a dangerous secret. Violet has information that may save the Union, but she can't deliver her message unless Peg agrees to pose as her daughter and help distract suspicious soldiers.
