Jake is a second-rate, resting actor until he meets an unknown director who is preparing to make a film about Errol Flynn and, bizarrely, gets the lead role. Not everything goes quite to plan - the film runs out of money. Jake gets embroiled with his co-star and life soon slides into farce.
