Library Journal
Murray, who has been collecting American sf magazines for years, has now published what he calls the work of a lifetime. An update to Donald Day's out-of-print Index to the Science Fiction Magazines, 1926-1950, this new index covers 34,000 stories in 5000 issues of 133 magazines. It is divided into four parts: a comprehensive issue-by-issue listing of the stories in sf magazines, a listing of stories by prolific authors, a title index, and an author index. While this index is necessary for comprehensive sf collections, the free Locus Index to Science Fiction (1984-1997) at (http://ww.sff.net/locus/0start.html) is certainly cheaper and includes a recent selection of sf indexing.--Christine E. Bulson, SUNY at Oneonta Lib. Copyright 1999 Cahners Business Information.
