Small town teen Jesse McKinnock is off to Southeast Asia with sixty other young adults on a Canadian youth exchange programme. Jesse's diary gives us a firsthand account of the ups and downs, heartaches and laughs of working in a group and facing a foreign culture.

From training camps in the north and west of Canada to projects throughout the Malaysian states and north Borneo, Jesse and her friends work hard and play hard, opening their hearts and minds to a life-changing experience.

Then Jesse falls in love with a young Muslim man and discovers the true meaning of an exchange of the heart.
