Melanie Murray was born and raised in western Massachusetts, and most likely would still be there if not for the lure of Broadway.

She attended New York University, and graduated with a bachelor of fine arts degree in drama. This left her with the marketable skill of writing about actresses. She lives in Brooklyn.
